Stewart celebrating our arrival in the Lake District
Well, you're in the London press! Or at least two of you are - the original story did have all four but had to be cut for space unfortunately. From the diary page today's City AM:
CYCLING CITY STYLE
What is it with the City and people doing their bit for charity by cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats?
Following last week’s story about two insurance brokers who are trying to complete the 874 mile bike ride in just seven days, comes another group of wellmeaning masochists.
Martin Smith, the former deputy chairman of New Star Asset Management and founder of Phoenix Securities, is cycling the route along with Richard Barber, the former commercial director of steel company Corus — although the 65-year-olds are taking a rather more leisurely three weeks over the task.
Despite the gruelling exercise, they’ve still found time along the way to pop into the Hay literary festival at Hay-on-Wye on the Welsh border, stop off at rather a lot of pubs and get share tips from a shrewd investor they’ve dubbed the “Sage of Middlewich” (once a City boy, always a City boy).
