Mr Cool
Richard Barber has worked in the steel industry all his professional life, from which he retired in 2002. He is now Chairman of HFT (The Home Farm Trust) one of the leading charities in the country caring for adults with learning disabilities. He sees the End to End Challenge as a means of raising money for this wonderful cause – as well as a way of trying to regain lost youth by pretending that he is as fit and supple as he was when all four of the team were at Oxford together in the 1960s. His wife, two children and two grandchildren doubt this – but believe that there’s no harm in humouring him that it’s true.
